Martin, thanks for this priceless view of your dad back in the day. (Loved the baby picture of
Annette too.) I've learned so much about Ukraine & Russia in your articles. If only Trump would read them and come to his senses. (Not likely) My sister & I are heading to Slovenia & Coatia for two weeks soon. Keep up the good work.
I think most of the baby-boom kids believed that World War II had decisively ended Nazi sympathy.
We remember, through our parents, what Germany did to Europe and Stalin did to Ukraine, and we carry that memory, most of us. But maybe not enough of us, for it seems we have lost the ability to appreciate our democracy and now just thoughtlessly shrug at the threat of dictators. We may be paying a price for that insouciance for years to come.
Thanks very much, Meg. I fear that disinformation has replaced memory for too many Americans, and that the country will be paying a price, to borrow your phrase, for generations.

My sincere thanks, Sharon.
Great article. As always you are able to take the macro of war and bring it to the micro of individual stories. Thank you.
Heartfelt thanks, Mark -- I appreciate your support for Ukraine and the newsletter.

Thank you so much, Lyn. "If only Trump would read" -- or maybe it ought to be "could." Wishing you and your sister a wonderful trip.
Lovely tribute to your father, Martin.
